Last night I got in a 8 mile run after work. I started in the fading light of the day and finished in the dark. For some reason, I love running in the dark. It seems like it takes less effort and with the right shadows, it feels like I am being chased. Last night's run was the first run of the season that has actually felt good.
Running is a strange thing. In the beginning, you spend almost every moment of your run, trying to talk yourself out of stopping to walk. However, eventually you get to a point where that goes away and you can think about other things. That is what took place last night and that is when I know it is going to be a good run.
Here is a peek into what goes on inside my head. It is disguised as a blog about my athletic endeavours ( triathlon, ultra-running, and most recently muay thai and jiu jitsu). However, because these sports end up being an outlet for an over-achiever complex that I think I own, this blog ends up being a place where I rationalize my issues. I try to educate and inspire in my postings while at the same time making up for the fact that I never kept a diary as a kid. Enjoy!

I'm a runner now ( or will be soon)
Allright then, with the pending birth of our 3rd child coupled with my desire to stay married, I've decided to forgo triathlon next year ( at least long course... I may still jump into a couple of sprints or oly's) and become a marathoner. I reason that this should keep my longest workouts to less than 2 hours allowing me to help Yvette with the cadre of children we are bringing up in this world. I will do my best to keep everyone up to date on training and soon will be choosing the races that I will be doing next year.
