Coyotes, Rabitts, and things that go bump in the night

My kid's taekwondo instructor, Master Kim, asked me about running the LA Marathon a few months back and I agreed to do it with him. He's joined me on a couple of Sunday morning runs, but for the last couple of weeks he has been trying to get me to run later in the morning because he is a night owl and has a hard time waking up at 5:30 to run. I aquiesced, and scheduled a run with him last night at 10pm for 8 miles. I reasoned that if anyone tried to mug us, I have a black belt with me :). We did get spooked by a few rabbits on our path and a coyote that checked us out as we ran by. He was probably wondering why we would run, if we weren't chasing something to eat. I wonder that same thing myself sometimes.
It was a great run, and I may make it a regular part of my run week. He did really well. I think it is one of his longer runs to date and his only real problem was blisters. That is something he will be able to overcome fast, so he should do fine at the Marathon.
Wish me luck, I have 16 miles with the speedster Jodee this Sunday. 4 miles tonight, and 4 miles on Saturday.
