Last night I finished my 10,000th push up in my challenge to do 10,000 push ups in 100 days. All in all it was a great experience and proved to me my ability to maintain self discipline. The only thing that I would change if I were to do it again would be the timing of my daily routine. I got into the routine of doing my push ups as soon as I rolled out of bed. It worked well enough in keeping me on track and knocking them out early so that I didn't have to remember to do them, however, in retrospect, it probably explains why my shoulders started hurting really badly at around day 70. Doing push ups on cold shoulders, probably not the best choice. So if you wish to duplicate this effort, consider doing them later in the day or doing a quick warm up of arm circles before diving right in to cranking out push ups.
Now onto my next challenge. Starting tomorrow, I will begin 100 days of core exercises to carve out a 6 pack. I will do 10 minutes per day of various core exercises with the goal of not only a better looking core area, but also internally a much stronger core area. I will be returning to jiu jitsu within the next 2 months and having a strong core is essential there. I am going to be taking pictures as I go along in this venture. Here is the picture that I am not terribly proud of but this will "shame" me into keeping on the right track and it will make the "after" picture that much better at the end.
